J. Mike Kelley Investigative Services, Inc. was founded in 1983 by an Orlando native, Mike Kelley. Throughout his life he always dreamed of being a law enforcement officer. He achieved that goal at the age of 23. He worked his way from patrol officer to Homicide Detective in a short span of time. Health issues posed severe limitations to his law enforcement career and forced him into an early retirement.

Mike Kelley refused to set his lifetime dreams and goals aside. He took his experience and continued his criminal justice career which paved the way for him to become the BEST criminal defense investigator in the Central Florida. Initially our agency consisted of one investigator, Mike Kelley. After 25 years, the agency is still thriving and has expanded its operations to include four on staff investigators and many field investigators. Our agents represent the diversity of our community. We employ agents of all ages and races.

J. Mike Kelley, Founder (1944 – 2009)

Mike was a native Floridian who moved to Orange County when he was four years old. He graduated from William R. Boone High School and went on to serve our country in the United States Coast Guard. Upon his return to the mainland he decided to continue his education and received an Associates of Arts degree from Valencia and Bachelor of Arts degree from Rollins College majoring in Business and Criminal Justice.

Mike began his criminal justice career in 1966 with Orlando Police Department. He spent 5 years as a patrol officer and 4 years as a patrol sergeant before being promoted to the Crimes Against Persons Unit. After fifteen years on the force Mike was compelled to retire due to medical issues but he wouldn't let adversity stand in the way of fulfilling his life long dream of working in the criminal justice community. In 1984 he founded J. Mike Kelley Investigations handling predominately criminal defense and domestic cases. His experience and knowledge gained through his years with the Coast Guard and later with OPD made him one of the most sought after criminal defense investigators in Central Florida. He always maintained a superior reputation in the criminal justice and private investigative communities as being a top notch investigator and being a leader in our field.

Throughout his career, Mike trained and cultivated many Central Florida"s most talented private investigators even assisting a few of them in opening their own agencies. He was always known to be the "go to guy" for the investigator just starting out and seeking advise. Mike was always willing to share his knowledge and expertise if you were willing to listen. In 2000 Mike took on the most promising student of all, his daughter. In 2007 J. Mike Kelley Investigations became J. Mike Kelley Investigative Services, Inc. and Mike had the honor and privilege of appointing Jaclyn to the position of Vice President. Mike and Jaclyn worked together as formidable investigative combination for ten years and in that time watched their business grow exponentially. In 2010 Jaclyn Kelley became the President of J. Mike Kelley Investigative Services, Inc. after the untimely passing of her father and mentor who will always and forever be the heartbeat of this agency.

Jaclyn M. Kelley, President

Jaclyn Kelley has been a been a resident of Orlando, Florida all of her life. Alumni of Apopka High School and daughter to two of the most well respected investigators and process servers in the Central Florida Area, Mike and Pam Kelley. She began her career when she was just a little girl making status check calls to field investigators from her father's radio. She lovingly became known to all as KI - 1 1/2, "Jr" to Mike's radio handle KI - 1. As all family businesses would have it, many hours were spent in her teen years in the office after school tending to clients and running documents to the courthouses.

After graduating highschool, Jaclyn took position as administrative assistant to Mike Kelley honing in on how to run each department whether that be investigations, service of process or office administration. Professionalism, focus on interpersonal relationships with clients, good report writing skills and time management were the emphasis of his daily instruction. Soon there after, She hit the road as a Special Process Server and familiarized herself with all of Orange, Seminole and Osceola Counties.
It wasn't long before Mike decided that she was ready. In 2000, when Jaclyn was just 20 yrs old, she applied became Kelley Investigations newest CC intern investigator. As J. Mike Kelley would say, he "put her in his pocket" and the rest is history. She received her training directly from Mike over the next nine years and became vastly skilled in field surveillance, asset recovery, decoy, research and analysis, domestic, civil and criminal investigations. She comes by her talents naturally as it is truly in her blood and this career path has been a lifetime in the making.

In her spare time she volunteers for the Child Rescue Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to reuniting missing children with their families, and is an active member of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators. Jaclyn is also an active patron member of the Central Florida Paralegals Association.

Alexia N. Emerson, Director of Operations

Alexia Emerson has been with J. Mike Kelley Investigative Services, Inc. for nearly a decade. She began as an intern while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Studies. Now a graduate of the University of Central Florida, Mrs. Emerson is a fully licensed investigator and case manager specializing in criminal defense, domestic and civil investigations. Alexia also received her training directly from J. Mike Kelley and is very proud to be the very last of Mike’s many interns. By combining her education and on the job training, Alexia has developed a reputation for superior case management amongst field operatives, attorneys and private clients.
